Woman charged with attempted murder

A 22-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder following a house fire in Cranbourne West on Wednesday 2 September.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said Dandenong Family Violence Unit detectives charged the woman following a house fire at Scarborough Avenue where two people were rushed to hospital.

Emergency crews were called to the property about 8.30am following multiple triple-zero reports.

“The 22-year-old woman remains in hospital and has also been charged with criminal damage by fire, intentionally cause serious injury and injury, assault with a weapon and reckless conduct endangering life,” the spokesperson said.

She is expected to face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court by video link on 30 November.

“A 60-year-old woman was transported to The Royal Melbourne Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.”

A woman in her 20s was airlifted to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition with upper body injuries.

Two Fire Rescue Victoria appliances and one command unit attended the scene within six minutes of receiving triple-zero calls, and were support by a number of Country Fire Authority crews.
