She adores attention, being showered with love and scratches, and while she can be a little demanding this horse hasn’t quite found a loving home yet.

Star, a seven-year-old thoroughbred mare was one of five horses available for adoption when Pearcedale’s RSPCA shelter threw its doors open for its inaugural Horse Adoption Day on Saturday 8 December.

Five tours were held at the sold-out event with three people submitting expressions of interest for horses.

Star’s racing career ended in 2015 due to injury and while she might not be winning prizes, she says “I sure am winning hearts; come and meet me and see for yourself.”
