An excavator driver has been rushed to hospital following a workplace incident in Cranbourne West on Monday 22 October.

It is believed a 24-year-old man from Doveton was operating an excavator on Wanstead Way when it “toppled over” about 12.50pm.

The man has been airlifted to the Alfred hospital.

A Victoria Ambulance spokeswoman said the man appeared to be in a serious condition with serious injuries to his arm, leg, shoulder and ankle, as well as a minor injury to his head.

WorkSafe has been notified and is attending the scene.

Police say a passer-by observed the incident and used his bobcat to lift the excavator freeing the operator.

Police and emergency services are currently on scene.
