A gunman is on the run after a man was allegedly shot inside a tattoo shop in Hampton Park this afternoon.
A 30 year-old man was rushed to the Alfred Hospital with life threatening injuries in what police say was a targeted shooting.
It’s believed an altercation broke out in Nitro Ink tattoo parlour on Fordholm Road at about 1.15pm.
It’s believed the man had injuries to his upper body.
A burnt out vehicle was located in Robjant Street in Hampton Park but “it has not yet been confirmed that this is the same vehicle the offender fled in,” a police spokeswoman said.
About seven police cars and ambulances are on scene.
Police have taped off a section of eight neighbouring shops and carpark.
Witnesses reported “a lot of police cars flying by.”
One witness said he saw the getaway car which he says was torched before being abandoned at Hampton Park soccer ground on Pound Road.
A group of Nitro Ink staff were in a group at the front nature strip. One staff member was seen crying and being consoled by another collaegue.
There was no signs of damage to the tattoo parlour.
Armed Crime Squad and Echo Taskforce detectives are investigating.
