Crash man attacks rescuers

A MAN travelling along the South Gippsland Highway ran off the road, through a fence and a bus sign, before allegedly assaulting ambulance and police officers.
The 43-year-old driver from Hampton Park was travelling north on the South Gippsland Hwy in Cranbourne on Friday 4 September when he drove into a bus stop sign just after 1.20pm.
His Toyota Prado went through a fence and came to a stop on Evans Road.
Emergency services immediately attended the crash where they spoke to the driver and were allegedly assaulted by the man.
The driver was restrained and taken to Dandenong Hospital for observation and will be interviewed by police for assault and driving offences.
