POLICE who stormed an alleged methamphetamine lab in Berwick last week found a “significant amount” of cash during the raid, suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Detectives discovered what they believed to be clandestine lab at a Glenisla Way property after executing a search warrant around 1pm on Thursday, seizing a large amount of chemicals, glassware and laboratory equipment inside, believed to have been used for the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
Two occupants of the house were charged with a number of offences relating to the possession, trafficking and manufacturing of illicit drugs.
A 23-year-old man was charged and bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 11 August. A woman, 31, was also charged and bailed to appear in court the same day.
Detective Senior Constable Reuben McAllister said the discovery was a timely reminder of the importance of public assistance in locating these types of clandestine operations.
He urged anyone who observes any suspicious behaviour to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, and make a report anonymously.
