Arson fires peak

POLICE are seeking information about a spate of arson fires across Casey over the weekend, which were deemed unusual for this time of the year.
There were reports of five suspicious fires in the municipality between 17 and 19 May, all believed to have been deliberately lit.
The first occurred on Saturday night about 8.45pm, where a 2004 Audi sedan was found destroyed by fire in Churchill National Park, Lysterfield South.
Between 3.30am and 4am on Sunday morning, a Holden sedan was also found burnt out in open park land at the end of Cleopatra Drive, Cranbourne.
Police also received reports of two fence fires on Sunday – the first occurring at 5.30am in Jacaranda Street, Doveton, and the other about noon in Filmer Crescent, Narre Warren South.
On Monday at 1.35am, a Hyundai Elantra was found destroyed by fire in Huon Park Drive, Cranbourne North.
The car had been stolen from Cranbourne East earlier that night.
