A fund-raising campaign championed by Berwick woman Deb Bayley in partnership with Coles stores in Casey and Cardinia has had a very successful fourth year.
The 2017 ‘Card for a Cure’ campaign, started by Deb Bayley when her son Ryan was diagnosed with type one diabetes, has raised $5300 from Coles stores in the South East.
The campaign has expanded in the last four years from one Coles store in Eden Rise to 13 participating stores across the greater Melbourne area.
For the month of March, shoppers were able to purchase a $2 card that raised awareness of the symptoms of juvenile diabetes, with money from the purchase going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
“Because of the generosity of the Casey community, all the funds raised will help JDRF research into type 1 diabetes within the community and support those living with type 1 diabetes,” Ms Bayley said.
“Currently, six Australians every day are diagnosed with the disease, so I’m very thankful to everyone at Coles for all their support in helping to raise awareness and funds for such an important cause.”
