CRANBOURNE’S own high-powered daredevil was targeted by thieves who cut a hole in his shed roof to access the rare motorcross machinery.
Three of Cameron Sinclair’s custom-made motorcycles designed for use in his aerial performances with global sensation, Nitro Circus, were stolen from his Cranbourne South property.
Offenders broke into a neighbour’s shed and stole tools which they used to break one of the locks on Mr Sinclair’s shed.
“They didn’t get through the second lock so jumped onto the roof and sawed a hole and gained entry that way,” Mr Sinclair said.
The extremely distinct bikes worth upward of $12,000 were to be used by Mr Sinclair in his upcoming Nitro Circus performance.
“It’s shattering especially because those bikes are my job, they’re how I earn a living,” the soon to be father of two said.
“I’d only had them a few months they were my 2016 models, I’d planned to use them all year.”
Peter Stevens Motorcycles in Dandenong has built Mr Sinclair a replacement bike.
“Luckily sponsors have helped me out just in time,” he said.
The 32-year-old stunt rider said he was alerted to the burglary which occurred on Saturday 23 April by his father-in-law.
“He was driving past and rang to tell me my shed door was open.”
Casey CIU is currently investigating the stolen bikes which have been seen in the area.
Senior Constable Alannah Goldsack said the offenders escaped on the bikes and that numerous sources had come forward with sightings since.
“The bikes have been spotted being ridden in open space under powerlines in Cranbourne North,” Const Goldsack said.
“People are recognising the bikes, but we haven’t had anybody identified,” she said.
Mr Sinclair has lived in Cranbourne South for more than two years, and said he had never been burgled before.
“I can’t train for the upcoming tour,” he said.
“I’ve been trying to be a detective and find them- we are getting more security cameras installed and lighting as deterrence.”
The brazen thieves left the neighbour’s tools on Mr Sinclair’s driveway after they made off with the one-of-a-kind bikes.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the motorcross bikes is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
