Wanted man Christopher Hillman has been arrested by police as part of the investigation into the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man in Frankston last week.

The 43-year-old was arrested at a home in Sarno Court, Cranbourne, following a stand-off with police, on Friday 24 September at about 11pm.

He was treated by ambulance paramedics at the scene and is currently under police guard in hospital, to be interviewed by Homicide Squad detectives in due course.

Two other people at the property at the time were not injured and left the property prior to the man’s arrest.

The arrest follows an appeal for information by police about the whereabouts of Hillman following a fatal shooting in Rassay Court on Saturday 18 September about 9.30pm.

Police descended on the Sarno Court address on the afternoon of Friday 24 September, blockading surrounding streets and warning residents to stay out of the area.

Residents were told the man inside the house had a high-powered rifle, but police said in a statement on Friday that there was no threat to the community.

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the Frankston incident.
