The State Government will deliver two new bus services connecting Berwick, Clyde, and Clyde North with trains, retail, education and healthcare services.

Bass MP Jordan Crugnale and Cranbourne MP Pauline Richards announced on 17 July the new routes, with buses 888 and 889 to begin operating in March 2021.

Bus services will operate seven days a week – between 6am and 9.30pm on weekdays, between 7am and 9pm on Saturdays and between 7.30am and 9pm on Sundays.

Route 888 will run to a 60-minute frequency from Patterson Road in Clyde, along Berwick-Cranbourne and Clyde roads towards Berwick station.

Route 889 will run to a 40-minute frequency rom Skylark Boulevard in Clyde North, continuing on Grices and Clyde roads and finishing at Berwick station.

Both routes will provide essential connections to important locations including Eden Rise Village Shopping Centre, Federation University Australia, Chisholm Institute and Casey Hospital. New bus stops will also be installed along each route.

The Berwick station bus interchange will be relocated to the station’s south by February 2021 as part of level crossing removal works, including the redevelopment of the station, which will be complete in 2022.

“Our community can connect in with the train network, local schools,

Federation University, Chisholm Institute, Casey Hospital, retail shops and more,” Ms Crugnale said.

Ms Richards said: “The south-east’s population is booming – and that’s why we’re continuing to build frequent, reliable public transport for growing communities.”

The new bus services are funded through the Growth Area Infrastructure Contribution program which supports the growth of vital infrastructure in Melbourne’s newest suburbs.

Victorian buses are receiving extra cleaning and sanitising during the pandemic. Passengers are reminded to practice good hygiene when travelling, maximise distance between passengers where possible, avoid travelling if unwell – and those who can work from home must continue to do so.
