A man is fighting for his life after firefighters pulled him from his burning home in Cranbourne early on Tuesday 14 July.

The alarm was raised when one of the residents of the home woke to the Trafalgar Way fire about 1.30am.

He called emergency services before attempting to alert the other five residents of the home.

Firefighters from Cranbourne fire station raced inside the home and pulled the man in his 60s to safety.

“Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes and wearing breathing apparatus, entered the property to search for any occupants,” a Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said.

“Firefighters rescued a man from the home, who was transferred into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics,” the spokesperson said.

The man has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.

Five men were able to get out of the home without injury.

The fire was brought under control just after 2am.

“At this stage it’s not known what caused the blaze to start but this will be investigated,” the FRV spokesperson said.

Police say the fire is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

It is expected detectives and an arson chemist will revisit the home.
