Students at Cranbourne’s St. Peter’s College have put their best foot forward for a worthy cause.

Wearing crazy coloured socks, the students took part in a Walkathon on Monday 22 July to raise awareness of children around the world who may not have access to a quality education.

They covered two kilometres by walking laps of the school oval, raising $200 which will go towards the Diocese of Sale Trinity Families Foundation.

VCAL Coordinator of the Cranbourne campus, Chris O’Hara said the students came up with the idea while focusing their studies on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal which calls for quality education.

“While researching the goal, students were shocked when they found that many children around the world do not have the access or the opportunity to be educated,” he said.

Students Cody Breen and Ajur Apai said they felt proud to make a difference in the walk.“One of the bonuses is that we felt more energized when we did start class, having participated in the early morning physical activity,” they said.
