Seniors from the Hunters Green retirement village in Cranbourne East have enjoyed a day trip to Geelong, raising money for a worthy cause.

Blessed with beautiful weather, the group consisting of 51 people caught a bus to Sorrento before ferrying across to Queenscliff and travelling to The Sir Charles Darling Hotel in Geelong on Saturday 23 February.

Organiser Lyn Conlan said the day raised vital funds for the Cancer Council, adding she couldn’t “fault anything – the scenes were beautiful.”

“It was a lovely day trip. They did a great job catering for us all; beautiful meals,” she said.

She said money raised was in the three-figure sum. “It’s a case of I can do the best I can by raising money.”

“I’ve had cancer in the family, quite a few and I feel that I want to do something that is going to maybe find a cure for cancer,” Ms Conlan said.

“I don’t want accolades for what I do. I appreciate what people do for me, without help I couldn’t do it.”

Ms Conlan thanked the support of seniors as “without them I just couldn’t do what I do.”

“I thank everybody for their donation because without them I couldn’t do it either,” she said.
