Man charged following collision

Police have charged a Cranbourne man following a serious two car collision in Springvale on Monday 14 January.

The crash happened at the intersection of Springvale Road and Princess Highway at 4.50am.

The 20-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences including drive in a manner dangerous, state false name, driving an unregistered vehicle. He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday 21 January.

Eight ambulances rushed to the junction of Springvale Road and the Princes Highway at about 5am after reports of a two-car head on collision.

According to Victoria Police, six people, aged between 16 and 20 years old, were travelling in white VW sedan when the crash took place.

The car was only equipped to handle five people.

The sole occupant of the north-bound vehicle, a Parkdale man in his 40s, was also taken to hospital with injuries.

A 20-year-old woman who was taken to the Alfred Hospital with injuries to her head, legs and chest – described as being the most wounded from the crash.

A man was conveyed to the Royal Melbourne with head injuries but is now in a stable condition, while another was taken to Dandenong Hospital with leg injuries.
