St Francis de Sales Primary School has received an early Christmas gift thanks to the hard working efforts of St John’s Regional College VCAL students.

Students from the College recently presented a picnic bench to the school which was an opportunity to share their trade skills with younger students.

Making furniture also helps the students work towards a certificate II in Parks and Gardens before they leave high school.

St Francis de Sales Primary School spokeswoman Sandi said: “Our partnership means that the SFS students get to work with the St Johns students on a regular basis and share their knowledge with each other.”

“We also have created a partnership with St John’s College Dandenong for our community garden. It is giving them a chance to get their VCAL students out of the classroom and into the community, while it helps us to build a pathway for our students to our secondary feeder school.”

Jennifer Witherdan and Brooke Mole from the Parents and Friends Association were also present to see the handing over of the benches.

Students Alex Avedesian and Richi Mathew presented a certificate of appreciation to St John’s Regional College
