The community has banded together to raise about $1200 for the Warneet-Blind Bight fire brigade on Saturday 20 October.

The fundraiser was part of the brigade’s annual Mega Community Garage Sale where residents registered with the Brigade and then held their own garage sales on the day.

More than 40 residents who participated in the Garage Sale Trail registered with the brigade by making a donation.

Activities held at the brigade included had a sausage sizzle, raffle, a visit from the Casey 360 Bus and the CFA Community Trailer on display.

For the first time this year brigade members utilised the Blind Bight Community Centre car park by selling bacon and egg rolls, car boot sales, raffle, coffee van and a community safety table with interactive activities.

“Both areas received great feedback from community members and we will continue to improve this event for next year,” brigade secretary and treasurer Debra Sevastianov said.

All money raised will go towards the operational needs of the brigade.

“We are fully volunteered and need to raise funds, ourselves, to continue the service we provide,” Ms Sevastianov said.

“The brigade would like to thank all who attended and look forward to seeing you all next year. We would also like to acknowledge the support we have received from the Star newspaper.”

“Our new fundraising Committee did a fantastic job on the day and behind the scenes,” she added.
