A mother is pleading for the return of her young son’s bike, after it was allegedly taken from Cranbourne East Secondary School on Wednesday 1August.

Pip Macnamara said had picked up her son Charlie, 12, from school after he fell ill on the afternoon of Wednesday 1 August.

Charlie walked to school the next day when he discovered his mountain bike missing from the school’s bike shed.

“They cut the bike lock off,” said Ms Macnamara. “The CCTV shows it was there up until about 10pm and then the cameras have gone all cloudy from the weather.”

She said Charlie was devastated when there was no sign of the bike.

“He’s a twin so they both got one for their birthday in February.”

The bike is described as a bright blue Progear mountain bike worth about $350.

Ms Macnamara said she was told by the school the bike shed was locked overnight.

“I didn’t realise until I had a proper look but there’s a gap between fence and the roof of the shed,” she said.

Cranbourne police are investigating.
