Families flocked to the grounds of St John’s Anglican Church in Cranbourne as they jingled and sang to the echoes of Christmas Carols on Sunday 10 December.
A bumper crowd of more than 500 people enjoyed the event with friends and family which was hosted by Cranbourne Presbyterian Church and St John’s Anglican Church.
Reverend Matt Scheffer said he was overwhelmingly pleased with the crowd turnout which brought the community together in the spirit of Christmas.
“It was a very successful turnout. There were lots of young families and people from different backgrounds enjoying themselves.”
“Families very much enjoyed themselves. It was good to get together and sing some carols and hear the message of Christmas and have some fun,” he said.
Casey Council Cr Amanda Stapledon who acted as MC said the event was a huge success.
“There were so many people from Cranbourne and as far as the western suburbs in attendance.”
Guest performer was world acclaimed opera singer and local resident Shu-Cheen Yu who sang a series of solos.
“She was amazing and the combination of all those on stage and those who sang loud and strong in the audience, made the night the great success that it was,” said Cr Stapledon.
“Rotary Club of Cranbourne donated their time to cooking sausages for the many families in attendance and we had the Cranbourne Chorale on stage leading the singing, along with a group of young musicians from Scots Presbyterian Church, Cranbourne.”
Children were also treated to a free bag of lollies courtesy of Cranbourne Market.
