UPGRADES to Sladen Street in Cranbourne have officially been completed, with MP for Cranbourne Jude Perera visiting the new-look street on Monday 05 December.
The works were undertaken to end the bottlenecks that have been a feature of Sladen Street between Codrington and Cameron streets.
The $10.1 million improvement works have seen the building of two lanes either side of a new median strip, new bicycle lanes, as well as new footpaths and pedestrian crossings.
As part of the upgrades, street lighting was improved along the stretch of road and landscaping and drainage works were also included.
Existing bus stops at Cameron and Codrington streets have been relocated and aligned with the new pedestrian crossing and traffic lights.
The widening and restructure of the road started in November 2015 and have taken just over 12 months to complete.
Mr Perera said the improvements to Sladen Street would mean members of Casey’s booming population would spend less time stuck in traffic.
“Cyclists and pedestrians will benefit through upgraded pedestrian ramps on Codrington Street and new cycling lanes.
“Cranbourne is one Victoria’s fastest growing areas and that’s why we widened Sladen Street and improved facilities for pedestrian and cyclists,” he said.
