Casey magic on stage

CITY of Casey students showed what they are made of in the sixth annual Schools on Stage musical extravaganza.
Secondary schools from across the region battled it out on Wednesday, 7 September, but there can only be one winner, and that was St Francis Xavier College, with ‘Our House, a Madness Musical’.
Hillcrest Theatre was packed to the brim as audiences cheered and clapped along to the musical numbers.
Much-loved show tunes from Grease, Aladdin, High School Musical and Hairspray were tackled by the students and popular Aussie entertainer Tim Campbell returned for the sixth year as host.
Tim had the audience in hysterics with his rendition of the ‘nicest kids in town’ as Corney Collins from Hairspray.
Tim was joined on stage stage by students from Hillcrest Christian College who choreographed an additional piece for Tim’s performance.
Awards went to Alkira Secondary College for the ‘Best Team Work’ and the ‘Best Song’ went to St Francis Xavier College for ‘Baggy Trousers’.
The popular Music Theatre International Australasia Award went to Casey Grammar School for their take on High School Musical.
Kooweerup Secondary College were runners-up in the premier division for Grease and Hillcrest Christian College placed first in the open division for Hairspray.
Emille King from St Francis Xavier College was awarded Best Individual Performer.
