Clean move to waste

THE City of Casey has taken another ‘green’ step forward in energy efficiency.
The council’s waste contractor Corio Waste Management has added to the fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks to collect public litter and recyclables in Casey.
The Isuzu CNG trucks deliver significant savings in emissions over diesel counterparts and are one of the cleanest trucks available.
Corio Waste Management’s general manager Matthew Dickens said when a larger truck was required to meet increased demand of the City of Casey contract, choosing another CNG truck was an easy decision.
“Corio Waste Management immediately recognised the environmental benefits of a CNG truck – including zero particulate matter emissions and up to 50 per cent reduction in nitrogen oxides compared to similar sized conventional diesels,” he said.
“Corio Waste Management is committed to working with the City of Casey to provide environmentally sustainable options to undertake works.”
City of Casey manager waste and recycling Michael Jansen said the council was committed to the use of alternative fuelled trucks for its public litter collection services.
Mr Jansen said he was pleased with the direction taken by Corio Waste Management with this addition to their fleet.
