STUDENTS from Cranbourne and district will soon be rewarded for their excellent attitude and leadership skills.
Nine Year 10 to 12 students from Cranbourne Secondary College, Eumemmerring Secondary College Fountain Gate Campus and Lyndhurst Secondary College Cranbourne are among a record 1,252 Victorian students who will receive the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards this year.
School administrators nominated students who demonstrated the values exhibited at the Battle of Long Tan, such as determination, mateship, persistence and compassion. The students also displayed exceptional leadership skills throughout the year in the areas of volunteer work and involvement within the community.
“It’s great to see the Australian spirit of teamwork is alive and well in our schools and it’s important to recognise the great work these students undertake,” Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston said.
“It is exciting to see the contribution students are making at their schools and in the wider community. We look forward to seeing award recipients continue to play a positive role in the community as young adults.”
Cash prizes of $100, $250, and $500, as well as recognition certificates will be issued to the school administrators to present to the recipients by the end of the year.
