BOOK characters in the form of disguised children and teachers visited Devon Meadows Primary School on Monday.
The students dressed in some fantastic costumes for their book parade, part of the school’s Book Week celebrations.
Teacher Amber Crawford said it had been a great response with the majority of kids and all the teachers dressing up for the parade.
“There were a lot of pirates and also princesses and fairies,” Ms Crawford said.
“There were a few Where’s Wallys and Darth Vaders and Dorothys. We even had a Mother Nature.”
Also coinciding with Literacy and Numeracy Week, students have been participating in activities all week.
Each day students took part in a whole-school bingo game, with numbers read over the loud speaker.
Poet Raymond J. Bar-tholomew also came to the school to read some of his works.
The school library was decked out in a winter theme, with icebergs, Eskimos, penguins, a full-size igloo that children could crawl into and read, snowflakes on the walls, and a snowman bigger than any of the kids.
