CRANBOURNE North locals did their bit for Very Special Kids by raising more than $2000.
The Thompson Parkway Newsagency held a Piggy Bank Appeal, with local children and adults helping raise money for the charity organisation Very Special Kids, which supports families as they care for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Glenda Barnes from the Thompson Parkway Newsagency said staff were rapt at raising the money for the worthwhile organisation and said it was a great day, with everyone enjoying themselves.
“And (staff member) Helen was a great hit with all in her very attractive piggy suit,” she said.
The Piggy Bank Appeal, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is the biggest annual fund raiser for Very Special Kids and runs throughout September with businesses, community groups and whole towns getting together to organise activities to raise money for the Victorian organisation.
The appeal hoped to raise $1 million this year with the final tally to be calculated at the end of this month.
