SKATEBOARDERS and BMX bike riders were in their element last Friday at the official opening of the Hampton Park Skate Ramp.
Kids were treated to a free barbecue and skating demonstrations from some of the state’s top riders.
The Cairns Road Recreation Reserve was abuzz as the experts showed just what the ramp could do and beginners and youngsters had a go on their wheels.
Officially opened by Rivergum Ward councillor Wayne Smith, the event also included instant video replay feedback and a visit by the council’s mobile youth information centre the Vibe bus.
City of Casey city living manager Richard Amon said the Hampton Park skate ramp was already well used by locals.
He said the council would continue to work towards ensuring the Cairns Road Recreation Reserve provided positive recreational opportunities for young people and their families.
