LITTLE chefs were out and about in Pearcedale this week to promote healthy eating and fresh vegies.
A group of kids joined the Pearcedale Farmers’ Market last week as part of the Little Chefs holiday program and as the market gears up for its first event.
Local farmer Shona Crawford helped out by supplying the kids with a variety of fresh vegetables for them to put their cooking skills to the test while head chef Nadine Pleydell, also one of the mums, helped encourage the next generation of healthy eaters.
She said she was looking forward to the first farmers’ market on 20 October where she hoped the rest of the community would get excited about “eating fresh” as well.
New market manager Deborah Pintur said she hoped the Pearcedale Farmers’ Market would be a place to find the freshest, best-tasting produce available.
The market will be held on Saturday 20 October from 8am to 1pm at the Pearcedale Community Centre, 710 Baxter-Tooradin Road, next door to the Pearcedale Football Club.
Farm fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, breads, free-range eggs, puddings, gluten free products, homemade jams, plants, flowers, and lots more will be available on the day.
All profits raised will go to local community projects.
Ms Pintur said everyone was welcome and she was looking forward to a great turnout come rain, hail or shine.
