CRANBOURNE West Primary School students walked safely to school last Friday to encourage their step into the world as pedestrians.
The school’s Walking School Bus promoted the activity on National Walk Safely to School Day, held across the country.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne said National Walk Safely to School Day was a great opportunity to promote the benefits of walking as a safe, easy and fun activity.
“Walking safely to school helps children develop the vital road and traffic safety skills they need as pedestrians,” Mr Byrne said.
“It’s a credit to the Cranbourne West Primary School community and particularly the trained parent volunteers that supervise and coordinate this program every school day.”
The day encourages students to continue to walk and commute safely to school after the event.
Cranbourne West Primary School’s Walking School Bus program began three years ago and now runs every day from four separate areas.
About 50 students are registered for the program.
