A ROWDY party at which intoxicated patrons threw bottles at police has prompted Cranbourne detectives to call for future parties to be registered with the station.
Police said 400 people attended a party at a house in Camms Road, Cranbourne, on 28 July and that officers were called in after several complaints from neighbours.
At 11pm police arrived and arrested a man who they believed was causing trouble.
Police said that in the process partygoers threw bottles at them and within minutes a total of five police cars with nine members were on the scene, along with paramedics. Police used capsicum spray while arresting the man. The 17-year-old man from Hampton Park has been charged with assault, resisting arrest and criminal damage.
He will appear before Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a date to be determined.
Det Sgt Grimshaw urged parents to register parties with PartySafe so police could keep an eye on proceedings throughout the night and to hold big parties at function halls and not at houses.
