Young equine athlete continues rise

Nine-year-old horse-riding enthusiast Siena Mammino has written another chapter in a rapid rise for her in equestrian by coming third at the Under-14 Shetland Racing event on the weekend.

Raced at the prestigious Moonee Valley, Mammino’s finish follows a second-placing in the West Gippsland zone for Dressage last year.

She took up the sport just two years ago and hails from a big family, but she is the first to take up an equine sport and has found a real passion for it – and has demonstrated her talent.

Sponsored by Horseland Narre Warren, Siena gets lessons twice per week at Tooradin Estate, is at Tooradin-Dalmore Pony Club monthly and is aspiring to one day represent her country at the Olympics.
