Heppleston skips his side to victory

It was another great day of bowls for the South West Gippsland Mid-Week bowling group who this week congregated at the beautiful Corinella Bowls Club.

It was lovely to see 30 of the bowls family turn up for the weekly challenge and it is a good day when the numbers are reasonably high.

The morning started off a tad cool but not too hot, not too cold and thankfully not wet, which means everyone was happy with the weather.

There was some really good bowling across all the greens.

A few of our bowlers are still getting used to Corinella’s new green, but today went a long way towards having everyone settle in and understand it more.

There was quite a bit of laughter and bantering across all the greens as usual.

Over the day the wind came and went which added to the fun for the day.

There were very few wrong bias bowls sent down, but the Royal Children’s Hospital tin still continues to grow.

The winners on 36 points were Tony Heppleston (S), Robyn Coulson (3) and Shirley Corcoran (L).

Runners up on 35 points were Margaret Hoy (S), Laurie Bell (3), Bev Elliott (2) and Cheryl Floyd (L).

Best One Game winners for the day were Terry Floyd (S), Michael Saunders (3) and Tony Morris (L)

Once again a big thank you to Peter and Pauline McWilliams for all the hard work they do, both on Thursday’s at the clubs, as well as over the course of the week.

Thank you also to John for his Master of Ceremonies duty each week.

Thank you also to Lance for looking after the bar for our thirsty players today.

Next week (Australia Day) we will be playing at San Remo.

We are looking forward to some good numbers but understand that some members will be missing to attend family affairs.

If all members could be on site by 10am for a 10:30am start it would be greatly appreciated.
