Upcoming change to the Princes Freeway at Clyde Road

Delays of up to 15 minutes are expected to continue for traffic detouring through Berwick over the next few months, as ramp closures take place as part of the Clyde Road Upgrade.

The outbound entry from Clyde Road to the Princes Freeway, Berwick will close from 8pm Monday 11 August until late November.

All motorists wishing to reach the Warragul-bound lanes of the freeway from Clyde Road should detour north using High Street/Princes Highway or south of the freeway and enter from O’Shea Road.

The inbound exit from the Princes Freeway to Clyde Road remains closed during this time.

There will also be a full closure of the Princes Freeway in both directions between Clyde Road and O’Shea Road from 8pm Friday 22 August to 5am Monday 25 August.

During the closures, crews will focus on widening the ramps and completing drainage relocations, traffic signal upgrades and asphalt works. They’ll also build a 180-metre-long retaining wall along the Princes Freeway citybound exit, which will also act as a safety barrier.

The Clyde Road Upgrade will deliver additional lanes between Enterprise Avenue and Bemersyde Drive to improve traffic flow and safety, including upgrades to the intersection at Kangan Drive and at the Princes Freeway interchange, new street lighting, road signage, drainage and landscaping.

Real-time traffic conditions are available at traffic.transport.vic.gov.au. The latest public transport information and network status is available at ptv.vic.gov.au or in the PTV mobile app.
