Teens arrested over burglaries

Detectives from Manningham Crime Investigation Unit have charged two teenagers following a series of incidents in Melbourne’s south east.

The teenagers, a 16-year-old Hampton Park girl and a 17-year-old Box Hill South boy have been charged following two alleged theft of motor vehicles and burglaries in Donvale and Doncaster East in the early hours of Saturday 2 October.

It is alleged the teens broke into a Donvale home about midnight and stole a black Hyundai.

They then allegedly broke into a second property in Doncaster East just before 5am where they stole a silver Mercedes coupe.

The Mercedes coupe crashed into a home on Arlington Road before the pair were arrested at the scene.

The girl has been charged with six offences including;

• theft of motor vehicle

• handle stolen goods

• unlicensed driving

The boy has been charged with 12 offences including;

• aggravated burglary

• theft of motor vehicle

• conduct endangering serious injury

• fail to stop on police direction

The pair were bailed and will appear at a children’s court at a later date.
