Sarno Ct siege continues

Police have blockaded streets around Cranbourne as they stand off against an armed opponent, holed up in a Sarno Court address.

Residents have been told there is a man inside the house armed with a high-powered rifle.

Police have made a show of force, turning out in large numbers armed with their own rifles and protective gear.

It’s not known if anyone else is inside the house with the man, however residents said they believed the house was usually occupied by the man’s father.

Monahans Road and several surrounding streets were blocked by marked and unmarked police cars for much of the afternoon on Friday 24 September, leaving residents stranded on the side of the road or stuck inside their homes.

One reported having been stuck outside since around 2pm.

In a statement, police said their attendance at the address was part of an ongoing investigation, and that further information would be provided when appropriate.

They said there was no threat to the community.
