The Browns Road Recreation Reserve is set for a major transformation, thanks to a $2 million funding boost from the second round of the State Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.
Cranbourne MP Pauline Richards announced on Tuesday 18 May that the project was one of 42 initiatives that secured funds in the second round of the program.
Once complete the Browns Road Recreation Reserve upgrades will feature a district-level Australian Rules Football/cricket/netball facility, a multiuse community pavilion with six change rooms and supporting infrastructure to meet the demand for active open space in this growth area.
The facility will provide a perfect base for Devon Meadows Football, Netball and Cricket Clubs to develop programs, train, and host matches and events.
The project is expected to create new full-time jobs during the planning and design phase, and additional jobs when construction commences.
By working with local government authorities and sporting clubs and organisations, the second round of the program is expected to create 600 local jobs across Victoria and drive local economic activity worth more than $180 million.
“This investment will support jobs, drive economic economy and produce a facility that will help more people in our community come together,” Ms Richards said.
“Congratulations to the Devon Meadows Football, Netball and Cricket Clubs – this boost will go a long way to support the growing number of people in Cranbourne keen to get involved in local sport and recreation.”
