New leaders step up for 2021 challenge

Sixteen students at St Peter’s College’s Cranbourne and Clyde North campuses have accepted their pledge to lead by example in 2021.

The year 11 students were announced as new school leaders after demonstrating good academic rigour and a strong sense of school pride.

Because of the Covid-19 crisis, the new leaders were recognised at a recent Zoom gathering.

In his address to the participants, school principal Chris Black acknowledged the outstanding contribution of their current 2020 school leaders.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has asked much of everyone but especially our student leaders,” he said. “They have demonstrated passion, creativity and commitment to care for and reach out to others, particularly our student community.”

He said leadership was noticed particularly in times of adversity and “our student leader’s mindset has consistently been on how they can reach out and support others”.

“They have been the servant leaders that we asked and challenged them to be. I thank each and every one of our student college executive for their commitment to serve our community.”

As new leaders, the students will be called upon to demonstrate commitment, possess a passion to develop student voice, and be a positive influence on others.

Mr Black also thanked and congratulate those who participated in the year 11 leadership program.
