Man dies in fatal collision

A man has died and two others are in hospital after a truck and car collided in Pearcedale on Tuesday 14 January.

Emergency Services were called to the scene at Baxter-Tooradin Road about 12.30pm.

Police say an SUV was travelling along Baxter-Tooradin Road at 12.20pm when it attempted to overtake two cars and collided head-on with a semi-trailer.

“Emergency services arrived on scene but were not able to revive the male driver of the SUV,” Victoria Police spokesman Glenn Manison said.

The driver of the truck has been transferred to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An ambulance Victoria spokesperson said a man in his 50s was treated for minor injuries and taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition while a man in his 60s was treated for upper body injuries and taken to the Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Baxter-Tooradin Road has been closed in both directions while investigations continue.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Pearcedale CFA firefighters were also on scene.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or with further information or dash cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
