Police have charged a Cranbourne North man in relation to an ongoing investigation into a number of alleged incidents which occurred late last year.
The investigation relates to a number of burglaries, vehicle and petrol thefts which occurred between October and December last year in Melbourne’s south east.
Detectives from the Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit and officers from the Special Operations Group attended a house at Cottage Court, Hampton Park on Monday 8 January where the 30-year-old man attempted to flee from police and resist arrest.
He was arrested by police with the assistance of a police dog.
He sustained injuries and was transported to hospital under police guard.
Following his arrest police executed search warrants at houses in Cranbourne North and Doveton where four stolen motorcycles were located along with other allegedly stolen property.
Thirty-eight charges have been laid which include aggravated burglary, burglary, prohibited person firearms offences, theft of motor vehicle, theft, handle stolen goods and reckless conduct endangering life.
He has been remanded to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 1 February.
As part of the ongoing investigation detectives from the Yarra Ranges Crime Investigation Unit have also arrested two more people in relation to the alleged incidents.
A 22-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were arrested after a search warrant was executed by police at a property in Cranbourne West yesterday.
The 22-year-old man from Cranbourne West has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft from motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and negligently deal with proceeds of crime.
The 23-year-old woman from Carrum Downs has been interviewed and released pending further enquiries.
