AFL greats and an all-time legend of Australian cricket were some of the famous faces who turned out for the annual Browns Sawdust and Shavings golf day.
More than 200 gathered at Sandhurst Golf Club for a day of fun, raising $50,000 for men’s health in support of the E J Whitten Foundation on Friday 16 November.
A range of AFL names including former Melbourne star Brad Green, Essendon legend Dustin Fletcher, former Hawthorn VFL player Michael Moncrieff, Western Bulldogs former captain Brad Johnston, cricket great Dean Jones, and all-time footy legend Ted Whitten took part in the day.
The winning team on the North course was Core Protective Group in Carrum Downs with a nett score of 48.12, with Ashford’s Accounting and Advisory taking out the top score on the Champions course with a nett 55.5.
Organiser Scott Brown said the event had been held for the last 20 years to support charities.
“Back in 2009 I got together 67 mates/golfers and headed down to Settlers Run golf course to raise some funds towards cancer research, now nine years has passed and Browns Sawdust and Shaving has an annual golf day every year,” he said.
“For the past six years were we have had over 200 players from more than 50 companies filling both course trying to raise money towards cancer research.
“We have raised more than half a million dollars towards charities such as E J Whitten Foundation, Make a Wish and Glenn McGrath Foundation.”
Comedian Chris Wainhouse provided entertainment at the end of the round.
Mr Brown thanked their major sponsor Hallam Truck Centre for their support.
