Seniors big night out

Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club will celebrate senior citizens at an inaugural seniors’ race meeting.

The Labor Government is providing more than $3000 from the Victorian Racing Industry Fund for the Seniors Day Out race night on Saturday 29 September, as part of a joint funding package worth more than $6000.

The inaugural Seniors Day Out meeting takes place on the eve of the Victorian Seniors Festival, which provides community-themed events and activities for people aged 55 and over.

The race night offers an affordable evening, with free entry and a two-course meal for group bookings through local retirement villages.

Patrons will be entertained by an Elvis impersonator, there will be a racebook competition, and a raffle and other giveaways throughout the evening.

Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club is providing more than $3000 towards the race day.

Since 2014, the Labor Government has provided more than $150,000 towards 13 greyhound racing events at Cranbourne.

“The Seniors Day Out race meeting is a great way to kick off the Victorian Seniors Festival and to recognise the contribution of senior citizens to our community,” Member for Cranbourne Jude Perera MP said.

Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club CEO Amanda Frey said, “Our inaugural Seniors Day Out will provide an affordable evening of quality entertainment and greyhound racing for seniors in the Cranbourne community.”
