Cranbourne North’s Alkira Secondary College has turned 10, with teachers and students celebrating with a burst of colour.
A carnival was held at the school with 900 students embracing their inaugural colour run on Thursday, 29 March.
Head of the school’s sports academy Terry Constantinou, said there was a lot to offer during the fun event.
“We had a number of inflatable rides, a petting zoo which was a bigger hit than I thought, face painting from the Arts domain and the Alkira performing arts academy providing live music and performances over the middle of the day,” he said.
“We also had the wellbeing team create a gratitude chalk wall and a dunk-the-teacher water drop that students voted on throughout the week.”
“The whole day was a chance to improve student connectedness, continue to build a supportive culture and give students a chance to engage in something different than schoolwork.”
Mr Constantinou said the school usually held a cross country event outside of the school grounds but had poor attendance in recent years.
“We decided something needed to change,” he said.
“So we moved it to school, built it in around our 10 year celebration day and allowed the students to wear a white t-shirt to enhance the colour run effect.”
“Big thanks to Mr John Shaw, the principal for helping this go ahead.”
