THE Balla Balla Community Centre is again holding its Celebrate Diversity and Culture in Cranbourne Photography Competition.
The competition is open to all members of the community and aims to celebrate the diversity and culture that makes Cranbourne unique.
Balla Balla Community Centre manager Maree Cullinan said the aim of the competition is to bring the community of Cranbourne together.
“The competition is about diversity within a community and culture,” she said.
“This means any kind of culture from sport to school and everything in between – that’s what a culture is, it’s not about race or nationality.”
The competition requires the entered photos to be accompanied by a small explanation of what they mean and the creative process behind it.
The exhibition of the photographs will coincide with the week of World Hello Day and share many of the same themes of peace and unity within community.
“We want people to celebrate their community and for them to determine what their photo is going to be,” Ms Cullinan said.
“People who may not have a chance to communicate normally will come together that night to talk about their pictures and story behind them.”
The photos from the competition will be used to cover all the walls of the foyer of the Balla Balla Centre and will remain on display until after Australia Day 2017.
The competition is open to entrants of all ages with four categories for people to enter photos including junior, intermediate, open, and senior with a separate prize for best in competition overall.
