Some comfort in draw

CRANBOURNE RSL BOWLS

TOP side Mulgrave CC proved too strong for the RSL on their home turf. Ken Hocking’s team did well to salvage a draw.

DIVISION 5
In a thriller like in Manilla the RSL finished (just like Ali) all over top-of-the-table Mulgrave CC to snatch a great draw. Winning three of the four rinks gave the RSL 11 points to Mulgrave’s 7.
A great effort by the whole team, with John Vowles’ team leading the way with a 7-shot win. Our history-making all ladies side (first time ever for the RSL) also won by three shots.
Cranbourne RSL 74 drew Mulgrave CC 74. A. Reynolds, G. Dore, K. McLeod, J. Vowles 24-17. Kate Currie, Denise Meulman, Marg McIntyre, Maree Hodges 15-12. D. Angee, M. Bobetic, L. Magri, B. Eagle 20-18. M. Ryan, K. Hickson, B. Walsh, S. Hickson 15-27.
DIVISION 8
Team 3 had an easy win as they had a walkover.
TEAM 4
In another giant-killing effort the RSL knocked over the top-of-the-ladder (and flag favourite) Dandenong City on their home track. That’s the two top sides we have beaten in the past two games.
Jim Grant’s team led the way with a 7-shot victory. A top two spot is now within reach.
Cranbourne RSL 41 d Dandenong City 33. A. Pichard, G. Jones, C. Stevenson, J. Grant 24-17. P. Zimmerman, C. Arlove, P. Leake, A. Underwood 15-16.
Congratulations to our new singles club champions: Men – John Black. Ladies – Maree Hodges.
