Hampton Park to bag Open Pairs

HAMPTON PARK is guaranteed of winning the Casey District Ladies Open Pairs title after their two combinations, Chris Hendrie/Ellen Smith and Denise Eastick/Helen Lambert won their semi-finals.
Hendrie and Smith won their semi by seven shots and Eastick and Lambert won by six shots. They will now play each other for the District title and represent the District in the Peninsular Region finals.
Tuesday
Midweek pennant is approaching the half-way and another disappointing loss has pushed Hampton Park’s Div 1 out of the top four. Playing at Mulgrave C C they led comfortably at lunch, but faltered to lose by two shots. G. Ladner, P. Hayden, C. Hendrie and N. Hendrie won 23-18, G. Ampt, A. Westwell, H. Lambert and D. Eastick scraped home with a one-shot win after leading well all day, but S. Collins, J. Westwell, A. Brandolin and E. Smith had to fight hard and went down 14-22.
Mulgrave CC (5) 2-60 d Hampton Park (1) 4-58
Division 2 suffered another loss, this time to Edithvale at Hampton Park.
J. Sherry, G. Clough, K. Goold and R. Woff had the closest game losing 19-20. H. Naismith, M. Baker, R. Wood and B. Nicol lost 13-30, while D. Carr, R. Diaper, B. Diaper and I. Kitt lost 14-26
Hampton Park (2) 0-46 lost to Edithvale (2) 16-76.
Saturday
Hampton Park’s Division 2 team hosted Berwick for third place on the ladder. Both teams were equal on points before the day started.
S. Hardy, M. Paton, P. Hayden and Z. Storm won well 21-9, G. Ampt, J. Nunan, S. Micallef and S. Collins won 25-18 and I. Bartlett, N. Hendrie, S. McDonald and K. Cobden won 22-19. S. Barnes, C. Hendrie, A. Brandolin and W. Hardy were holding a draw, but the Berwick skip converted for a six with his last bowl. Hampton park team lost 15-22.
Hampton Park (1) 14-83 d Berwick (3) 2-68
6th place Hampton Park’s Division 4 travelled to Burden Park for a battle for sixth and seventh on the table.
H. Naismith, J. Wright, G. Ladner and R. Woff won 23-14. R. Beverly, R. Pallett, J. Van Hout and J. Westwell won a close one-16-14. A Ottaway, T Storm, D Eastick and H Lambert lost 24-27, and C Barnes, E. Smith, S. Hatch and L. Simpson went down 19-23.
Hampton Park (2) 14-83 defeated Burden Park (3) 4-78.
Division 6 also had a ladder battle to fight against Willow Lodge. Willow Lodge were second and Hampton Park third.
Unfortunately, Hampton Park could not hold onto an early lead and lost by nine shots.
L. Unwin, M. Battaglia, B. Diaper and R. Wood won 24-17, J. Sherry, J. Collins, C. Richarsd and B. Holden won 22-14, but R. Oost, G. Wilson, K. Goold and B. Webb lost 10-25 and G. Cox, T. Harbright, B. Nicol and I. Kitt also lost (14-23).
Willow Lodge 14-79 d Hampton Park (3) 4-70.
After losing one and winning another of their last two games due to forfeits, Division 8 were able to field a team and travelled to Murrumbeena.
W. Grimsey, R. Diaper, J. Damon and K. Damon lost 10-28, and D. Carr, M. Kelly, G. Clough and L. Soligo lost 19-31.
Hampton Park (4) 0-29 lost to Murrumbeena 14-59.
