VICTORIAN Premier Denis Napthine visited Cranbourne West last week to announce a brand new community centre for the area.
Dr Napthine announced the new Cranbourne West Family and Community Centre – a $5.06 million investment that would combine funding from both the State Government and the City of Casey.
The centre will include three kindergarten rooms, two Maternal and Child Health consulting rooms, one community room, a meeting room and outdoor space.
It is scheduled to open in early 2016 and would be located along Bradman Drive, Cranbourne West.
The Premier visited the Marriott Waters Family and Community Centre on Friday 24 October to announce that the City of Casey council was successful in its application for a major capital grant for the new centre.
The government’s major capital grant of $1.6m will be combined with $3.46 million in funding from the City of Casey.
Casey mayor Mick Morland said it would bring many vital services together in one convenient location.
“This new facility will help the council meet the demand for quality education, care, health and support services for children and their families,” he said.
“Casey is home to one of Victoria’s highest populations of newborns to four year olds, with about 26,600 children in this age group.”
“Our municipality’s continued growth, particularly in areas such as Cranbourne West, has led to an increased demand for kindergarten services, localised maternal and child health services and space for community based activities such as playgroup.”
Councillor Morland said the council would continue to look for further opportunities to partner with the government and deliver vital services for the area.
“We look forward to delivering another first class facility for our community and again, I thank the State Government for their contribution,” he said.
