POLICE were forced to give up their pursuit of a stolen car travelling at more than 50 kilometres over the speed limit last week.
Police pursued the suspected male driver who was travelling about 130km/h along Narre Warren – Cranbourne Road at 12.40pm on Friday 25 July before abandoning the chase.
It is believed the man was driving a car which had been stolen from Berwick Toyota earlier that day.
The red 2014 Toyota 86 coupe was stolen about 8am and has still not been found.
The offender also used the car to commit a petrol drive-off at a Shell service station in Endeavour Hills and another at the BP service station outbound on the Monash Freeway in Officer about 11.30pm on the Friday.
