POLICE have appealed for help to determine the movements of two cars before they were involved in a serious crash in Cranbourne, which injured four local teenagers.
Major Collision Investigation Group detectives have made a fresh appeal for information about the collision which occurred on the South Gippsland Highway, just north of Camms Road, on Thursday 5 June.
Investigators would like to hear from motorists who were on the highway and may have noticed the Holden Commodore and a Ford Falcon, involved in the crash, just before 11.30pm, travelling from Dandenong, through to Hampton Park, Lynbrook and Cranbourne.
Police believe the two cars were travelling side by side in the south bound lanes of the highway prior to the collision.
Both cars ran off the road, mounted a centre median strip and collided with a concrete pole.
Nineteen-year-old Cranbourne woman Danica Pringle, who was the passenger in the Ford involved in the collision, suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown by air ambulance to The Alfred hospital where she remains in a serious condition.
The male passenger of the Holden suffered serious injuries and also remains in The Alfred hospital.
The drivers of the two cars, both men, suffered minor injuries.
Detectives would like to speak with anyone who witnessed a dark blue Holden and a silver Ford travelling south on the South Gippsland Highway or anyone who may have been overtaken by the cars prior to the collision.
Anyone with any information or anyone who witnessed the activities of the two cars prior to the collision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or log onto www.crimestoppersvic.gov.au.
