Taking no chances

DEVON Meadows trainer Darren McDonald will take a two-pronged attack into the world’s richest staying race for greyhounds, the $250,000 Group 1 RSN Sandown Cup (715m) to be run at Sandown Park tonight.
First and second in each of last week’s four semi-finals progressed to tonight’s final, the McDonald pair of Zipping Joe and Sweet It Is live chances in the classic, despite finishing second in their semis.
Zipping Joe booked his place in the final with a strong second to Tarks Nemesis, while Sweet It Is flew home from the tail of the field in the semi-final won by the David Phillips trained, Butterfly Bling.
Phillips, from Endeavour Hills, only has the one dog in his kennel and a win in tonight’s feature would be a career highlight.
The lids fly back on tonight’s final at 9.41pm.
