RECORDS tumbled at the hands of Berwick College swimmer Bill Le Brocq at the School Swimming Championship.
After battling glandular fever throughout 2013, Le Brocq, 15, from Upper Beaconsfield, said it was great to get back to peak form and swim exceptionally quick times.
“It was good – same event as last year the 50m breaststroke… I did the 50 butterfly as well and got second,” Le Brocq said.
“Been back swimming for four months (following a bout of glandular fever).”
Le Brocq set the quickest time at the under-14 level for the 50-metre breaststroke and kept up the blistering times with a 32.21 to earn the record at the under-15 level.
Also starring at the championships was schoolmate and Casey TigerSharks’ representative Jake Mitreski who jointly won the boy’s under-14 50-metre freestyle.
Mitreski, who just turned 14 this week, from Berwick, said it was great to pick up a school swimming championship, but admitted he could go even quicker.
An extremely rare swimming dead heat between Mitreski and Williamstown’s Jesse Coulson resulted in the pair both taking a gold medal for the race.
“Yeah it’s pretty good to win,” Mitreski said.
“It wasn’t a PB (personal best) – I swam a 27.48… my best is 26.55.”
Best is yet to come
