City enjoys healthy bounce

DANDENONG CITY fired off a 4-3 victory over Brunswick City to rebound up the ladder after a disappointing round one loss to North Geelong SC.
The City of Casey’s highest ranked FFV club, based at Frank Holohan Reserve in Endeavour Hills, bettered its record to 1-1 with the win and pushes up to sixth in the NPL1 competition.
Dandenong City’s frontline strikers kept the game alive after goals from Brunswick’s Dimitri Vithoulkas, Denis Sadik and Nicholas Terezakis.
It left a fight-back in earnest as Keegan Ziada slotted his second of the season, with Damien Miskulin, Goran Jozeljic and Dario Matkovic smashing home their first of the season to push the City boys to a one-goal victory.
Dandenong City faces Box Hill united on Saturday from 3.15pm at Wembley Park.
WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE
Casey Comets and Cairnlea split the points in a 1-1 draw.
Leading from the front, Lara Croft (34’) levelled the scores after Cairnlea’s Aneta Komijat (16’) scored early.
Neither side could break the deadlock from there, leaving each to take a point from the encounter.
Casey Comets WPL faces Box Hill at home on Friday night from 8.30pm.
STATE LEAGUES
A Marce Janneker brace allowed Casey Comets men to open its State League 1 South East campaign in fine style over Doncaster Rovers. Comets head to Warner Reserve to face South Springvale.
In the cross-town showdown, Doveton SC easily accounted for Berwick City in a 4-0 drubbing. Aleksandar Dukic, Grant Lane, Matt Williams and Ioasa Saemo made it a cakewalk for the visiting Doves.
Doveton hosts Nunawading City while Berwick City travels out to Beaumaris.
